The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet
There's a robot for all carpet types, regardless of whether it's high-pile or low-pile. These machines are intelligent and can automatically navigate through your home, pick up debris and even clean under furniture.
A lot of them come with advanced features, like mapping, which allows them to navigate around your home and keep track of furniture place. They can also increase suction power to clean up areas.
iRobot Roomba 694"
The iRobot Roomba 694 is a basic robot vacuum that works well on carpets with a low pile or bare floor. It has good suction however it has trouble with larger debris such as sand or grains of rice. It is capable of cleaning pet hair but is not as resistant to tangling as the premium Roomba models such as the I6 and j7.
The Roomba is easy to use. It has a trio of buttons on its cover: 'Clean' initiates the cleaning process and 'Dock' places it back into its charging station, and 'Spot Clean' triggers an targeted clean. It can be controlled with an app for smartphones that lets you program or stop/start cycles as well as adjust settings. You can also connect the device to smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant to control it by voice commands.
This vacuum is slower than other models, but it's still able to reach the majority of crevices and corners. It has a large bin, which makes it easier to empty. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers which allow you to make the robot avoid certain areas or to stop cleaning altogether to avoid it from becoming stuck.
Although it's not the most efficient model in its price range, it's better than many other options. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694 with a much better cleaning performance on carpets with low and no pile. It also follows a more efficient cleaning path and has longer battery life. It is also more comfortable to use and has fewer parts that need regular maintenance, costs less to maintain over its life and charges more quickly than the 694.
It's also worth considering other models that are more expensive in the iRobot range, such as the 981 or the v7. They're more expensive but they are significantly better than the 694 in terms of cleaning efficiency on both low- and bare floors, follow an efficient cleaning path, have a bigger dirt compartment, are more efficient to charge, can move more easily, and are easier to pair with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This budget self-emptying robot vacuum cleaner does an excellent job on carpets with low piles and hard floors. Its combination brush gets into corners and edges and it automatically boosts suction when it senses carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt that is embedded in the middle of the pile carpet. The IQ's compact dock footprint and self-emptying feature are nice touches. However, if you want to change the floor levels on the map, or set no-go zones, you'll need to manually reset it to do this, which is a bit of an inconvenience.

The IQ app provides advanced mapping and automated functions, however it does not have no-go zones. These are only available on iRobot robots. Its smart-pathing navigation system provides greater maneuverability, and its high-pile carpet mode cleans well, though it tends to get caught up on rug tassels, and its iHome speaker allows you to control the robot using voice commands.
During our tests, the IQ was capable of handling pet hair well, clearing huge amounts of hair from floors that were not bare and fair amounts on medium-pile carpet. It was less effective on shag carpets, where it was unable to reach dirt and dust embedded within the fibers. It was capable of navigating the legs of chairs and tight spaces as well as the wooden base of an IKEA step stool. It was slower on floors that were not paved however, it was able to recover speed and performed better than other robots we tested.
The IQ is a better choice than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on charge, and is more capable of moving itself over obstacles. It also has mopping attachments that are able to deal with sticky debris. On the other side, the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance, and can create virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It can continue cleaning from the point it started, even if the battery runs out before it's finished. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice commands, which is a big plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The eufy RoboVac 11S isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum available however it offers great cleaning power for a low price. This robot vacuum is made for those who are budget conscious and don't require a complicated mapping system, or an app to control it. The robot can run for up to an hour and includes a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek, with a tempered glass upper deck that covers plastic finished to appear like brushed aluminum. It's a nice aesthetic different from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more industrial and utilitarian.
The eufy11S did well in our tests at removing larger particles and fine dust from floors. It was unable to thoroughly clean carpets with high and medium piles. The device has a tendency of bumping into furniture and people along its path. However, it can detect obstacles with sensors. It stops and emits a loud ring when it comes across an obstacle. Then, you can manually guide the device around the obstacle and get it to work again.
Another excellent feature of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode that allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction strength to match the floor type and the level of the mess. It's also simple to use the remote to direct the 11S to where you'd like it to go.
If you don't have much furniture in the room you want to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent alternative. The eufy will spend up to 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned.
You can also select Edge Cleaning, which reduces the amount of time spent in each location to 20 minutes for maximum battery life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern cleaning edges and corners.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a fantastic mid-range vacuum cleaner that excels on carpet. Its performance is also exceptional on bare floors. It can pick up fine debris like rice easily and it doesn't suffer from suction power even when its dirt bin gets full. Its air-sealed, allergy-friendly design traps allergens, keeping your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA and self-emptying bin which means you don't require additional filters or vacuum bags.
It's not as powerful as more expensive models, but it's still great for tackling dirt and deep cleaning. It comes with two cameras in front that deliver a live feed to your smartphone. It also has one of the most advanced obstacle avoidance systems. It also comes with a huge dustbin, a long runtime and a speedy and smooth clean-up.
Contrary to other robots the Complete C1 can switch between a standard powerhead and a turbo head to suit different floor types. The turbo head is best on low-pile or high-pile carpeting, while the standard powerhead is ideal for floors with no flooring and light rugs. It also has an automatic height adjustment system that allows it to adapt to various kinds of flooring without manual adjustments.
This model comes with the SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead, which can be used on carpets with a hard surface and carpets with a medium pile. The motor can also be easily maneuvered and can reach hard-to-reach areas. It comes with five levels of surface adjustments and a brushroll off switch to avoid hairs getting caught in tangles.
The Classic C1 also has a self-cleaning brush roll as well as an UtraClean mode that goes across the same area three times to ensure the best possible clean and a self-emptying trash bin which can be filled with the touch of one button. Its noise level is a little higher than some other models, but its powerful 1,200-watt motor as well as sturdy build make it worth the extra expense.
If robot mop to pay more it's worth it. Miele Complete C3 is an excellent all-round robot vacuum that is more effective on carpet than the Classic C1. It is more efficient on all floor types and feels more sturdy and comes with an HEPA filter.
